Will and Inventory of Thomas Gibson who died 1734

Note by James: I find these old wills in 1700's and early 1800's very interesting.  This Thomas Gibson was the father of Valentine Gibson who married Frances Garrett


P.151-152 WILL I Thomas Gibson Senior of St. Martins Par., Hanover Co. Sick and weak but of sound mind and memory do make this my Last will and Testament. I recommend my soul to the hand of Almighty God and my body to the earth. After all my debts and funeral charges are paid I give to my loving son Thomas Gibson 50 a. of Land; to my well beloved son John Gibson 50 a. of land; to be well beloved daughter Nice? Nicks wife of Edward Nicks, Frances Humdery and Mary Brook one Shilling each; to my well beloved son Edward Nicks whom I do hereby constitute sole Exor. of this my will and Testament my house likewise my stock of hogs and cattle together with all my Estate goods and Chattels moveable and unmovable to enable him to bring up my Children John Gibson, Valentine Gibson also William Robertson. I do hereby utterly revoke and make void all former wills made by me.

BOND We Edward Nix and Anthony Pouncey are firmly bound unto Nicholas Meriwether Gent. in Commission of the Peace for Hanover Co. in the sum of ~100 Sterling. 7 Nov. 1734 Condition: if the above bound Edward Nix Exor. of the last Will and Testament of Thomas Gibson dec'd, do make or cause to be made a perfect Inventory of all the goods, chattels and 0redits of the sd. dec'd and deliver all Legacies as specified in sd. Testament then this obligation to be void.
